The State of the Blog

It’s been a busy season, but more posts are in the works!

Work, grad school, and getting my new used car took up much of my fall 2024.

A few posts I want to write

However, there are some posts I’m looking forward to writing over Winter Break. I’m dying to make it back to the Big Thicket National Preserve in east Texas (where a kind ranger took my photo, see above). I was there for the Big Thicket’s 50th anniversary celebration on October 12th, but due to the grad class midterm due that night, I wasn’t able to walk the trail for long before needing to turn back. I’m not sure when I’ll be back this winter (as I don’t want to walk if it’s freezing!), but I absolutely plan to return so I can properly write about the trail and related conservation work.

Plundered: The Tangled Roots of Racial and Environmental Injustice (https://www.amazon.com/Plundered-Tangled-Racial-Environmental-Injustice/dp/1514007746), is a book I want to write about– as soon as I finish it. I found the audio-book a little bit too soothing to listen to (I kept losing attention), but I’ve been tracking with the e-book better.

And I also want to share my thoughts on a few episodes of Gulf Streams, available on various platforms (https://gulfstreams.podbean.com/). Gulf Streams is a great podcast co-produced by Rice University’s Center for Environmental Studies and KPFT Houston. The podcast puts out news and interviews on wide range of environmental and climate topics, based in Houston, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. I look forward to each Monday when a new episode drops!

In other words…

I’m excited to return to blogging in the coming days this winter! Stay tuned for more!
